Sandy Lagana Bly
Lagana Bly was promoted to Associate Athletic Director in on March 22, 2024 after an 11-year tenure as McDaniel’s head women’s soccer coach. Lagana Bly serves as camp director of the Green Terror Youth Soccer Camps.
The winningest coach in the history of the women’s soccer program, Lagana Bly guided the Green Terror to 144 wins and leading the team to nine postseason appearances, including five NCAA tournament appearances and four in the ECAC. The Green Terror won a program-record 18 games en route to the 2021 Centennial Conference championship after winning back-to-back ECAC titles in 2018 and 2019.
Lagana Bly headlined five Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year honors, two Region V Coach of the Year honors, and coached five All-Americans, two Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Year and one Centennial Conference Player of the Year.
In her final season as head coach in 2023, Lagana Bly led the Green Terror to the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship. The team boasted a Third Team All-American, three all-region selections and five all-conference honorees, including the Defensive Player of the Year. She and her staff were honored as the Centennial Conference Coaching Staff of the Year and United Soccer Coaches Region V Staff of the Year.
Lagana Bly is a native Sykesville, Md. who graduated from South Carroll High School in 2000. She played women's soccer and women's lacrosse at Bridgewater College, earning all-conference honors in both. She graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies before later earning her Master of Science in kinesiology and recreation studies with concentrations in athletic administration and coaching from James Madison in 2006.
